San Juan County Lawyers to Offer Free Advice at Legal Fair
September 20th, 2018
Around 17 lawyers from San Juan County will offer their free legal advice to county residents on September 21st, 2018. [1] The San Juan County Legal Fair will start at 12 noon and go on until 5 P.M. Residents in the area can ask any one of the lawyers questions on a myriad of legal practice areas, ranging from wills, to repossession, divorce, bankruptcy and more.
The San Juan County District Courthouse will be the venue for the legal fair, and will be closed for the day to accommodate the event.
Immigration is a pressing topic in the county, and for the first time ever, the fair will be hosting an immigration attorney. The pro bono committee has been trying to have an immigration attorney at the fair for years, and this has been a ground-breaking move for them! A dedicated area will be set up specifically for people to hold a teleconference meeting with the immigration attorney.
District Judge Daylene Marsh is the chair of the Pro Bono Committee, [2] one of the organizers of the legal fair. She says that the legal fair is rewarding and a chance to give back to the community.
Marsh also states that people planning to attend the legal fair should bring along paperwork about their issues or cases, to facilitate their experience at the fair.
